Thomas Gjesteland is awarded the year’s Yaras Birkeland prize by the Norwegian Academy of Science. The award is for his contribution to the understanding of terrestrial gamma glimt. The prize includes NOK 100,000 and a certificate. The Yaras Birkeland prize is given annually to doctoral work that best reflects the spirit of Birkeland’s research work.
