INTEGRAL-IBIS

The task of INTEGRAL (INTErnational Gamma-Ray Astrophysics Laboratory), ESA’s International Gamma-Ray Astrophysics Laboratory, is to gather some of the most energetic radiation that comes from space. The spacecraft was launched on 17 October 2002 and it’s helping to solve some of the biggest mysteries in astronomy.

The Department of Physics and Technology, University of Bergen, joined this ESA project to develop and build the gamma-ray telescope IBIS to be flown in the INTEGRAL satellite. The responsibility of UiB was to develop the IBIS veto system.
